Font board
I have gave an example of 13 different font types, however I know I want a clean spaced out font not bold or interesting just very simple. Because my magazine is majorly aimed at women this will give them a sense of classiness. However I do want it to still be eye catching and attract the audience.

Colour chart
I have picked 4 different sets of colours that I am possibly going to use for my music magazine. The first set of 4 colours are very bright compared to all the other sets, bright simple colours such as blue and green can make the magazine bright but also very plain at the same and that's what I'm aiming to achieve. My favourite set of colours is the top right one. I think the colours go well together and show the classiness I want for my magazine as it is mostly aimed at women. They’re also very simple colours and the burgundy will make the font stand out and make it eye catching for the reader.
Advertisement brands
Most of the brands that i have picked are clothes/make up brands as that is what women are insterested in reading mostly. There is a range of expensive and low cost brands as women always like a good bargain.
Target Audience
My magazine is aimed at a feminine audience aged between from 16-25 years old. These are women that like to take care of themselves and enjoy going to festivals as they are still young. Most of these women will have jobs therefore they can afford some expensive products but mostly go to high street shops. They like to be on trend and be very girly. They listen to acoustic/indie music. This magazine will attract a mass audince as it covers a lot of different topics.

Full Magazine Analysis
For my full magazine analysis I will be writing about
Kerrang. Kerrang has over 30 years of heritage and it’s the biggest music
weekly in the world. It researches more young readers than any other music
magazine. Having a younger profile is a big advantage as traditionally this age
group is elusive and expensive to reach. The Kerrang readership is 345,000. The
mean age of the reader is 25 years old. Kerrang is the original multimedia
platform boasting magazine, online, radio, TV, K! Awards, K! Tour and K! Podcasts.
Kerrang is mostly rock genre. Kerrang readers are the heaviest music consumers over
6 albums per month on average and 8 times more likely to spend over £200 a year
on albums. They are also 5.5 more likely to attend a rock gig. James McMahon
was voted editor of the year at the record of the day music journalism and PR
awards 2012.
The Kerrang reader is roughly 25 years old, loves rock
music, listens to music very often, attends gigs regularly, likes to play
instruments, likes to be independent, the music he listens to influences the
way he dresses. The way he looks and the clothes he wears are integral to
communicating ‘his identity’ to the world. Kerrang is partnered with Paco
Rabanne to promote Black XS with a cross media campaign to give readers the chance
to enter to win a recording deal with Search & Destroy Records. Kerrang
scores 69% for influence VS Bauer ACT tracker: 15-40. Consumer brands that have
used Kerrang in the last 12 months include LG, Orange and national express. One of Kerrang's case studies was Biffy Clyro
EP. Kerrang negotiated a free exclusive Biffy Clyro EP download cover mount
with all 12,000 downloads being redeemed on the first day.
Kerrang brand extensions are Download festival as Kerrang is
the official media partner with Download festival. It has exclusive media
coverage. Also Kerrang radio has 1.3 million listeners; it’s the biggest
commercial radio station outside London. There is also Kerrang TV. It attracts
1.6 million viewers every month and 730,000 are adults aged 16-34 years of age.
It has 175,000 unique users, 450,000 page impressions, 307,244 twitter
followers and 291,720 Facebook fans. This signifies that Kerrang attracts a
mass audience.
The advertising rates for Kerrang are also very expensive as
it attracts a wide range of readers. For example the display would cost: Full
Page Fh £3,025
Full Page roP £2,750
halF Page £1,512
iBc/ oBc £3,575
DPs Fh £5,748
DPs roP £5,225
Kerrang also works with Bauer media group, one of the
biggest organisations in the media industry.

Audience research analysis
Magazine
questionnaire analysis
We created a questionnaire to gather information about what
our audience would like to see in our college magazine. 45% of the people we
asked were males the rest 55% were females. 95% said they didn't read the
college magazine. This means the product doesn't work for its purpose or target
audience. 55% of the audience want a monthly college magazine, but only half of
the people would pay 50p maximum for it. 80%of these people would be more
inclined to buy the magazine if it had freebies included. The majority said
they would like to see fashion, study tips, music, jobs and food in the
magazine. 60% of our audience would like to see an image of a person on the
front cover this would persuade and attract them to buy the magazine. The main
colours picked by the audience for the magazine were blue, yellow, red, black,
white and green. 50% said they would be interested to contribute to their
college magazine. 65% people said an online version would be helpful and they
would use it. I will now gather all this information and make my own magazine
that will attract my target audience as this is what they've asked for.

College magazine analysis
Magazine
analysis
The masthead is always at the top of the magazine so the
buyer can spot it easily. It’s normally bold and bright so it’s eye catching.
It normally also relates to the magazine type and what target audience it
attracts.
The selling line is what persuades the costumer to buy it,
it’s generally something catchy and that the costumer can remember. However the
selling line is a lot smaller than the masthead because it’s not as important.
The dateline is a must in a magazine cover so you know what
week it was issued.
The main image in this magazine is a boy at college smiling.
He looks happy that suggest that he likes his college. Also he’s holding a few
books to show that he’s hard working. The cross necklace signifies peace and
religion therefore the magazine designer wants to make this boy seem nice and
genuine, also very hard working.
The colours used in this ‘college’ magazine are bright.
They've used yellow which is a very eye catching colour also they've used a
splash of pink in an important part of the magazine to make that bit stand out
more than the rest. The background colour of the magazine is black but however
it does not blend with any of the cover lines or other information on the cover
as the font is in white and yellow.
