Audience research analysis

Magazine questionnaire analysis

We created a questionnaire to gather information about what our audience would like to see in our college magazine. 45% of the people we asked were males the rest 55% were females. 95% said they didn't read the college magazine. This means the product doesn't work for its purpose or target audience. 55% of the audience want a monthly college magazine, but only half of the people would pay 50p maximum for it. 80%of these people would be more inclined to buy the magazine if it had freebies included. The majority said they would like to see fashion, study tips, music, jobs and food in the magazine. 60% of our audience would like to see an image of a person on the front cover this would persuade and attract them to buy the magazine. The main colours picked by the audience for the magazine were blue, yellow, red, black, white and green. 50% said they would be interested to contribute to their college magazine. 65% people said an online version would be helpful and they would use it. I will now gather all this information and make my own magazine that will attract my target audience as this is what they've asked for.

College magazine analysis

Magazine analysis

The masthead is always at the top of the magazine so the buyer can spot it easily. It’s normally bold and bright so it’s eye catching. It normally also relates to the magazine type and what target audience it attracts.
The selling line is what persuades the costumer to buy it, it’s generally something catchy and that the costumer can remember. However the selling line is a lot smaller than the masthead because it’s not as important.
The dateline is a must in a magazine cover so you know what week it was issued.
The main image in this magazine is a boy at college smiling. He looks happy that suggest that he likes his college. Also he’s holding a few books to show that he’s hard working. The cross necklace signifies peace and religion therefore the magazine designer wants to make this boy seem nice and genuine, also very hard working.

The colours used in this ‘college’ magazine are bright. They've used yellow which is a very eye catching colour also they've used a splash of pink in an important part of the magazine to make that bit stand out more than the rest. The background colour of the magazine is black but however it does not blend with any of the cover lines or other information on the cover as the font is in white and yellow.
